  • M37 fuel pumps diaphragm failures

M37 and M43 both 230's and military fuel pumps. I've replaced them both at least twice because of the diaphragms failing and leaking gas into the crankcase. Got them from Midwest Military, John Bizal says it's something about the gas in Florida. He said here and one other state are the only places he's had trouble with the fuel pumps he's rebuilt, uses modern materials. Both tanks are clean and all new fuel lines throughout. Anybody got thoughts or suggestions on this? I don't need the vacuum portion but would like to keep the original look. Anyone know where to get just the fuel diaphragms? The last pumps only lasted around a year so something is weird about them.

    Thanks, guys.

They must be forcing a higher
    Percent ethanol on you there.
    Luckily my system has been
    Holding up.

I see the day coming when that
    Will change.

That is along the lines of what John Bizal was suggesting, something about the blend, supposed to be max. 10% though. Flip side is I have 3 Willys Jeeps with regular fuel pumps and it doesn't affect them at all.

I try and run only the Premium fuel that SAYS no alcohol and or ethanol. We have 1 station here in town to buy it from.

Do I believe what the pump says, no but it is the best that we have.

Agree with the posts about non-alcohol gas.
Even though it is more expensive, if you don't drive that much it is the way to go, especially if the truck sits some.
I fill up 2 five gallon cans of it each November to winterize all my small engines and put the balance in the PW.
Do a google search and you will find out who has it.
