  • NP 201 seals

    In my 1968 W100 I have a NP 201 transfer case.

I am installing new input and output shaft seals.

The seal is about 1/2 inch thick.

The recess where the seal goes it deeper. It goes in about 3/4" to a seat or small shelf.

I did not pay close enough attention when I removed the seal.

Does the seal go in all of the way to the seat / shelf at the bottom, or does the seal stay flush with the outside edge ?

I am guessing that it goes all of the way to the stop.

Thought that I would seek experienced advise to be sure.

my 201 seals are flush with the outside of the housing . That said. The seal lip location is not that critical if it is still on the yoke and the surface of the yoke is good quality Many guys use speedy sleeves on the yoke and maintain the original location in the case and yoke.
