  • Truck Search: 6x6 Brush Truck in NJ?

I'm trying to track down a Dodge 6x6 brush truck that was published in the July 1991 PWA, shown below. The photo was submitted by Rick Lathrop from New Jersey, and I'm hoping someone, specially Rick, can shed some light on the original and/or current location of the truck. I can make out "VOL FIRE CO" on the side of the truck, but can't quite make out the district name. :( My assumption is the truck was in New Jersey, but who knows. The license plate may be a clue, but it doesn't mean anything to me.

I have found a Richard Lathrop in Williamsport NJ, but I'm not able to find his phone number. Anyone have contact info for Rick? If so please email me offlline at gpcoffin at peakpeak dot com.

Anyone seen or know anything about this truck?

    TIA,
    Greg

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

I BELIEVE that I have a photograph of this truck in a book...I will check and get back to you.

If it's the same truck, it's a WC 6x6 with a WM300 cab added on

        EDIT: I do!

This truck was owned by The Louden Fire Company of Waterford Township, New Jersey.
It is a retrofitted 1943 Dodge WC63, with a cab that came off a civilian Dodge Power Wagon.
"This unit carried a 200GPM pump, and a 300 gallon water tank. The company named this truck Wild Cherry."

I will scan in the photograph for you gentlemen tomorrow afternoon!
        I hope that this helps.

            pwrwagonfire, I love that truck!
            I drive a DODGE, not a ram!

            Thanks,

That's the truck! What book is the photo in? I have not been able to reach anyone at the Fire Department, but I'm still on the trail. Several of the local fire departments were consolidated a few years ago, and my guess is that a lot of the old equipment was auctioned off soon after. But I haven't given up, and I hope to spend some more time on the project this spring.

                  6x6 Brush truck in NJ

That's a great photo, and cool to see that it's still around. I spoke to someone at the fire district last month who said that the truck was still in their inventory, but that's all I was able to learn. This photo is much more encouraging!

Nothing new so far. I had plans to go back east this summer, but the trip fell through. I'm hoping to go out next spring, and will make some time to track down the truck.
