  • 24 volt gauges on 12 volt system

I have an M37 that has been converted to 12 volt. Is there a way to tell if the gauges are 24 volt or 12 volt by looking at the back of the gauges? What about the sending units is there a way to differentiate between the two voltages? I am looking for information on how to go about starting to get working gauges on my truck. thanks.

    gauges

Try removing the gauge cluster and looking to see if they are military. Gi Gauges will have Packard or douglas connectors built into the actual gauge casing. also how are they lit? most civilian gauges have a lightbulb which plugs into the back, military have a few slots in the back and are lit by a red light on the back of the panel. As far as I know all the military gauges I have seen are 24 volt. You can purchase modern stewart warner or datcom versions in 12 volt.
