  • W200 Power Steering and Disc Brake

Kindly be advised "New to this site".

    1. I have a 4WD W200. Can I add power steering ? If so what do I need.
    2. Can I add Disc Brakes ? What do I need and who is the best vendor.

    Thanks for the assistance

    welcome!

What year model W200 do you have?
Usually the easiest way to get front disc brakes is to swap in a newer (75-93) axle.
As for power steering, if your truck is pre 1972 that's a little more involved.

In 69 Dodge trucks only offered a "power assist" steering. I'm not sure if the 4x4's offered them, but 2wd did. They had a hydraulic ram type cylinder & several hoses going to/from it. Prone to leaking & hard to get parts for. I think you'd have to find a donor truck that already has this set-up, but they are getting scarcer & scarcer.

This site has very knowledgeable people who may be of help:

        www.sweptline.org

Go to the forums (suspension & brakes is best for you), you don't have to join/register to read, but do have to if you want to post questions. I know adding power steering has been talked about before.

Another option that I have read about is using a Toyota P/S gearbox, not sure which model but it does require fab work.

I saw where you posted over on that site. I hope someone comes along with what you need quickly. That site, like this one, has many kind & knowledgeable folks.

The West coast (Ca & Wa) seem to be where the most parts are.

There's not a factory "add on". Others have fabricated their
own P/S systems. You can use a later model D44 or D60
from a Dodge 4wd. The guy to talk with is Doug [aka "DigDoug]
over on the Sweptline.org site. I believe he did a cross-over
system on one of his Sweptline W200s..... Doug could suggest
the ideal year front axle to look for as well....
