Is the NV4500 on a diesel different than the NV4500 on a gas engine?

Same basic transmission as far as i'm aware. The bell housing will be different so you would need the one for your application. I know Chevy used the NV4500 which is also very similar but they chose to go with a smaller diameter input shaft and a different first gear ratio (on most but not all).

Diesel version has a larger diameter input shaft.
