    Hi Jake,
I have a used one I would sell you. It has no rust and one dent that half an hour would make disappear. $50 plus shipping and its yours.
    Thanks,

      Hey Tim,

      Hey Tim,

This may be a good a option for me, the valance you have is for a second series box?

        Hi Jake,
It is my understanding, and someone please correct me if I am wrong, that the 3rd series and second series rear valences are the same.
I know the first series ones are totally different.

            Hi John,
Are you sure? I checked Horkeys website and they offer one valence for long beds 48 -52 and then they go from 53 to 79 with a second type. No mention of a different one for 51 through 56 for the second series years.
Do you know what the difference is?
            Thanks,
            Tim

              Tim,

Compare these two pics, my 2nd series valence is in the first pic, 3rd series is the second. I don't have a pic of a 3rd series disassembled but they look square on the ends compared to the curve of the 2nd series.

                Hi Phil,
Thanks for the pics. Other than the clipped corners on the 2nd series, they look the same to me. If that was the only difference it would be an easy conversion.
                Thanks,
                Tim

                  Phil,
Where did you find the custom rear bumper?
Also, I confirm what you say, the second series rear valance is angled on the ends, not square like I believe the third series is. Other than that they are the same I believe.

Rear valance / Rear cross sill / Rear crossmember

                    Hey Tim,
Have you got a picture of the valance?

                      Doc,

The custom rear bumper came with the truck. I believe the first owner put it on; it has a pretty substantial pintle hitch on it as well. I'm seriously considering removing the bumper though. I've banged my knees on it one to many times. :-)

                      Jake,

Without seeing a 3rd series valance, my guess is that the ends could be cut as Tim mentioned to match the 2nd series. I can get a pic of the back side of mine if you need it.

                          Frame

I left the springs attached, I will be replacing the springs for a new set so I did not bother doing the pins and spring disassembly before sanblasting.

Mine was stripped of everything except the springs and axles. They were left for maneuverability, but I should have removed them, as I had a few places they could not strip with still attached I had to clean before painting.
                            I drive a DODGE, not a ram!

                            Thanks,

I have not got allot done on this truck this past winter but I am planning to get back at it and try to get it running for the summer season.
I was more than a little side tracked by the appearance of the Carryall, I have since regained most of my senses and will not be spending any more time on it until the 56 Fargo is done, and that is final.

did u leave the springs on ?? what other frame prep work ??
