  • transfer case leak

    Hi
I was checking out a leak from the rear end of the transfer case which is coming from the rear seal and I noticed that the rear shaft can move up and down a good .040". My thoughts are that the bearing is bad.

    What do you think?

Could be a bad bearing or worn and at the very least needs to be re shimmed.
Need to pull the retainer and check.

I had that problem in my W200 with a201 transfercase, I should have addressed it sooner. It was a spun bearing, It cost me the shaft, shims and retainer to put it off for a week.
