  • 2 FREE PW's

Yes I have two PowerWagons and they were free. The first truck i got is a 1947 WDX.It was an oil field service truck that had a rack for pipe and cutting torches,a water tank, front gin poles(does everybody do that on the front?),and a snow plow. This thing is painted with something that I have never seen before. It barely scratches with a screwdriver.Needless to say,the cab is in good shape.Anyway,we were called to tow this thing from a town about 50 miles away. The owner asked us if we could store this thing in our impound lot for a while.Well 2 years went by,this guy just disappered.Never heard from him again. We tried to find him but ended up filing for a title ourselves. He must have been that elusive PW fairy. It runs and the engine only knocks when you start it. At least it only blows a lot of smoke and stalls if you try to shift to third.
Truck 2 is a 1953 B3PW.It was one of those days!I towed a car to this house out of town and I noticed he had a half dozen different Mopars sitting around.I asked if he had a 318 that i could put in my PW.He asked what year my truck was,I said 1947 PW,he asked me to walk around back of his barn and see if it looked like the truck in back. There it was, very rough, but there. It is missing the rear axle and both front fenders,he gave those to his brother who has a PW also.It was a crop spraying truck. The frame behind the cab is rusted gone on one side and very thin on the other. There were thorns growing through the floor and out the windows. An 8" diameter tree was growing between the bumper and front axle. The rear of the truck was sitting on cement blocks. The driverside door was in the bed, luckily there is no floor left in the bed.Of course I had to ask if it was for sale.He said if I could use it,I could have it.We went back with the rollback truck, and after cutting the tree down we were able to load it.Suprisingly the front wheels rolled and I think the rusted brake lines and frayed wire harness kept the bed from falling off.My wife was in good spirits that day.she just shook her head and said that if I was happy with it, that is all that mattered. After all it was our wedding anniversary! Seriously though, it does have a lot of good parts left; front axle,4 more rims, transfer case, windshield regulator, radiator, hood, grill, you get the idea. I love my trucks.I love my wife for putting up with me. She thinks I love the trucks more.

PS: My third truck is a 1951 Mack A-30 with just over 8,000 miles on it.

Is there any chance that you still have those trucks. I am rebuilding a 1965 WM300 and need as many spare parts as possible. Then when I'm done I can offer whats left for parts to others from the new england area. My email is cjanddd@comcast.net

    Thanks

I just scored a deal on a twin line wrecker body that i'm going to put on the '47.The '53 is going to be a parts truck.Let me know what you need and I might have it.The '53 is as rough as it sounds. If you are really interested I can give you my phone number as my computer has been acting up and I don't have e-mail working yet.

I'm always interested in parts. Send your phone number to the email I have listed on the last reply. If all else fails we can probably have some good laughs together. I will probably be going to michigan again this fall to visit family maybe I could stop in and say hello.
