  • Could you help me i.d. some parts?

First picture is my ignition switch. It's not original but came with the truck (in a box). I need help identifying each terminal with the wiring diagram for a 52' B-3-Pw, or a brief description of what gets hooked to what. I cannot see any i.d. marks on the back of the ignition. THere's a long stud, short stud, and the blue thing is an old wire crimp. There isnt a stud in that location, just a wire coming out.

Next picture were two items found laying on the floor of the truck. Any ideas? It's probably something obvious that will make me feel foolish when I find out.

One last thing, I'm in search of an original headlight base- just one. I have many extra PW parts to trade or will pay cash.

    Thanks for the help.

Well the second pic are trim pieces that go on the side of your grill by the radiator. As for the wiring, if you had a continuity meter you can figure out what is what but right off hand I can't say what wire goes where.

Dutch is correct, the second pic are the trim pieces for the grill. Here is the electrical wiring diagram for my 55. Hope this helps...

Here is another simplified drawing of the ignition circuit (6v) for my 55...

Thanks for the replies guys. Strange there would be a couple extra trim pieces. The ones currently on the grill are fine. The problem I'm having with the ignition is identifying where each wire goes. There are no identifying marks (that I can see) on the back of the unit. So I dont know where to connect "C" "A" and "F" wires on the back of the ignition.

Thank you for taking the time to post the drawings Clark. Am I correct in assuming the terminal post, on the generator, towards where the battery sits is the "F" terminal and the one farthest (closest to the engine) is the "A"? I see no identification marks on the generator.

Usually the "A" terminal is on the left looking from the rear of the Gen.
So with that thought you are reversed.

But that is not a rule of thumb, just what I have seen over the years.
            You need to verify.

Use an Ohm meter on the switch to mark the terminals.

Thanks for the help so far. So after closer inspection, and tedious cleaning, I found some numbers barely visible stamped on the back. The longer terminal stud has either "GA" or "OG" stamped next to it, shorter stud has "AM", and the wire sticking out has "PAD" or it could be "FAD" or the last letter could be an "O". I hope this helps. I'll use a multimeter on the switch this afternoon when I get over to the shop.

                Don't guess....

get an ammeter or a circuit tester (light) and battery and see which terminals are doing in each position. It's a switch and not that complicated. Hook the battery to a terminal and move the switch from off to on and to start.
Some of these old trucks and cars didn't have a start circuit. The switch just energized the ignition and when you stomped on the "start pedal" it manually engaged the starter drive gear and closed a starter motor circuit to run the motor.
If the circuiting doesn't work for your truck get a new one that does work.
That's what I had to do...
