  • Town wagon in a field

How's it going gentelmen? I am not new to the site but I am new to this sub. My reason for writing is.... Walking around my neighborhood I saw this old SUV looking thing parked behind a shed it took me a long time to figure out what the heck it was. I am a mopar guy and could tell it was from Ma, but I had never heard of a town wagon/panel before. I thought maybe it was a plymouth suburban but some internet searching led me to the answer.
So back to the point, I am not a guy who likes to bother people too much (And I am not about to walk out into someone's field to many people with guns) but I would like to add this to my collection. So what are these things worth? I haven't seen the guy outside to speak to him yet so I don't know much about the truck but From a hundred yards and a partially block view the truck looks good no rust holes . It is even covered in paint no visible surface rust. I would say it is a wagon because it has two sets of windows on the sides. And I am guessing 63 but it could be any year in the 60s as I am not great at telling them apart and I can't get close.
Also anyone have pics of the interior of one of these things I can't find a good pic anywhere. Thanks in advance.

Town wagons are cool I own a 64 TWPW. As for worth it depends on condition like anything else. Common problems are rusted rear wheel arches, rear doors and front floor boards. Very rare to have three seats most have two. Also the headliners are usually gone or poor condition. Go here to see seating and what a 58 looks like I did this one last year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQAUgQ8sauo and here on the build http://imageevent.com/ron55/1958townwagon the 61-66 have an 8" longer wheelbase that is added on the front fenders. Good luck on your quest like to see pictures

First thing, hello. Value on a Town Wagon can vary alot. Things that can increase value/rarity are if its a 4x4 Power Wagon Town Wagon, what shape the body is in, completeness (interior, drive line, running/driveable,) 1957's are more rare. And most of all how badly you want it. These trucks are not all that common, you never see them at car shows. I have 3 of them at the time. If I found a descent rust free bodied 4x4 that was driveable I would probably pay $4000+, of coarse it depends on lots of things. I look forward to hearing if you get it.

Just so happens as I was diving today I saw a lady out in front of the property that the truck is on so I talked to her. She said her brother owns the truck and never touches it but as far as she knows is not interested in selling. I didn't get a phone number but I was told he got the truck from a military base. She didn't know anymore about it. I didn't get a phone number. I will still try to talk to the owner but it doesn't look good as far as me getting the truck. My wife will be happy.

Thanks for the heads up and info guys. Ron your truck looks great. The interiors look how I imagined. I didn't know you could get a hemi as an option. I only heard about the leaning tower of power and the poly 318. Where there any other engine options through the years? There is really limited info on these trucks. It seems you can get info from the internet on anything but town wagon/panels.

Where abouts are you located? I am constantly on the hunt for Town Wagons/Panels, I can let you know if I come across any in your area. I am in east central Minnesota.

I am known as Mr Dodgegeek and my wife is Mrs Dodgegeek. We are always refered to as the Dodgegeeks. I know I see a lot of Town Wagons for sale on craigslist in Washington and Oregon. Go to this site and type in "town wagon" or "town panel" or "dodge panel" and you will see all the trucks for sale on Craigslist. Just be sure to surround with "" or you will get all kinds of unrelated stuff. http://www.searchcraigslist.org/

                          You can call me Rob.

Any more info on engine options I know the slant six, poly 318, and (because of this thread) the 315 Hemi. In the mid 60's did they offer a big block or anything crazy? I know the guys at dodge were doing crazy stuff like putting max wedges in wagons and even a truck or two any word of that stuff in a panel/wagon? Maybe something less crazy like a 361 or 383 even a 273?
                          Thanks again,
                          Rob
