  • Lil Mo fire truck

I started a new project last week since we're in a deep freeze and it's to cold to paint the 58 Sweptside we've been working on. Go here http://imageevent.com/ron55/lilmofir...zclj81.eagle_s to see how it's coming along. This 59 Power Giant only has 995 miles on it and is very clean. Should prove to be an interesting build on a rare truck. My first fire truck project.

Very cool Ron, I'm sure it will turn out nice. Not sure if you knew it but I work at Rosenbauer, a fire truck manufacturer. I test fire trucks for a living. I'm always interested in seeing old fire trucks. Looking forward to watching your build.

Thanks Andy, I didn't know that was your occupation I may need some advice once I get into the workings of the fire equipment. Hoping to have this done in time for Iowa. Spending the day up close and personal with this truck and my DA sander removing the cheap red paint so I can prime it if we ever get out of the cold spell.

Very cool truck! Its not a Power Wagon, but I had to share a photo of my FWD fire truck. Its a 1957, everything works and it has 10,000 miles on it- 554 Waukesha engine gets about 3 mpg. I'll be looking forward to your progress updates.

3MPG ?!? OUCH !!! Cool anyways I'll be posting here and more pictures on my Image event page. I sanded the cab today with my DA sander which is a filthy job but necessary.

That was quite a rig in it's day. I'm not big into fire trucks but this one is pretty cool. Stay tuned it's moving right along.

How's Little Mo coming along? I just looked thru the pictures of it again and said to myself "That looks like a helluva lot of work", I talk to myself a lot. I sure would like to see it in person when you are done. Is it for a local guy or is it going somewhere I will probably never get to see it?

Yesterday while taking the front end apart for the Lil Mo I found the line set ticket behind the radiator support and core support. It's a full page long but only about 2 1/2" wide. I can read code numbers and a few line items on the paper that's in good shape considering the age. I'll get some close up pictures and post them on my Image Event page. With only 995 miles on the truck and being a fire truck probably saved the page from being total toast. Pretty cool find anyway. We have the truck apart and will be blasting part of the cab and some parts so it can be primed. Today we're wet sanding the primer on the 58 Sweptside truck preparing for paint now that warmer weather is here.

Thanks for sharing Ron. I always enjoy seeing what you have going on. Any idea what is going to happen with this truck when you are finished? Museum? Parade truck? Just someone wants a cool old Dodge fire truck? Looks like another I would like to see in person.

Andy, the truck belongs to the same owner as the 58 Townie I did last year. He also owns the 60 W200, the 58 Sweptside and the Lil Mo plus a few more I haven't posted yet. The good Lord willing and the creek don't rise I plan to have both done for the rally in Iowa. Laying down primer on Mo this afternoon. We set the Swept cab on the chassis this morning first thing, it's going to look nice if I do say so myself. Hope you're getting back to 100%.

                            I drive a DODGE, not a ram!

                            Thanks,
