  • Speedometer cable question

    Hello all,

I am new to the world of Dodge, well old Dodges at least. I am working on a '53 that I found abused in a guy's driveway. The truck is un-restorable to OEM as of all the modifications that were done but I thought it would be fun for something to cruise around in during the summer. After replacing the cab (it was rolled over once or twice) and repainting it, I'm off to get everything working.

All was going well until I went to hook up the speedometer cable. For some reason that defies explanation I am unable to find where the cable screws into the transmission. I have built other old vehicles (Willys, GMC, etc) and have never had this much trouble finding something so simple. Any directions would be greatly appreciated.

    Keith

    Look at the transfer case.

Why is it that the inside of old truck cabs smell so good?

Found it. Well, found a bolt that was put in the hole where the speedometer cable should go....

The bolt you found...was it on the transmission or the transfer case?
