This truck was my fathers work truck and he passed on in 1995 and would like to either get pics if it is not for sale or poss purchase the vehicle. Scott, while it's a long shot being almost 20yrs since that place closed, you might check local newspaper archives (local library sometimes have them on microfiche) for any auction advertising/anouncements from the era when the hospital closed. You may be able to track down the company that conducted the auction & they may have records of the vehicle or the winning bidder....If you can come up with a VIN# a friend in law enforcement, the DMV, or the auto insurance industry may be able to track down its current location. Big vehicles like that aren't normally daily driver's so it's unlikely that this truck was wrecked, salvaged, or crushed.....Also if it was a fire-truck most of these wind up in smaller VFD's. Ask around as most VFD's know what kinda equipment other VFD's use, particularly if it's something out of the ordinary.......I think the reason for your search is quite honorable.

All I have is what the state told me was the vin number # 2381898874, can't get it ran because vin number is not enough charatchers, state DMV stated they cant find any title or anything and they destroyed their files after 7 years from auction. Vehicle was auctioned in the possible mid 90's. Can you please send me pictures to my email scottwpems@yahoo.com

When you place an ad on Power Wagon Advertiser forums, e-mail your ad of up to 100 words to b1pw1948@earthlink.net,
For publication in the magazine, your ad must include area code and phone number, for those subscribers without web access and unable to send or receive emails.

Folks on the internet tend to think that everyone in the world is on the web. That is not so. A lot of people subscribing to Power Wagon Advertiser are not on the internet. Don’t miss out on having those people see your ad, and don’t miss out seeing their published ads for trucks and parts.
The best part is that the ad is free to you. An ad of up to 100 words may be sent for publication.

Scott, all Pa. govt surplus vehicles are sold by the Dept of General Services in Harrisburg, Bureau of Vehicle Management. They used to publish auction flyers and send them out every month. The auctions were held at their facility on Forster Street, in Harrisburg.
They now publish their list on the internet, and auction the vehicles through an outside contractor. Not sure how long they have been doing this.
When a vehicle is sold, the funds are transferred back to the agency who owned it. Don't ask me how I know this.
The point is, I suspect there is someone, somewhere, who has the information you seek.
I don't know how to tell you to best navigate through the bowels of the Pa. government, but a visit to your local state representative might be a good place to start.
I also can't believe that DMV no longer has the vehicle in their system. They may not have it in their computer, but they should still have title records. I don't know that these are available to the public. But if you are friendly with a police officer, you might be able to find out.
Hope this helps.

Scott.
Forgot to mention that ALL state vehicles were sold at the Forster St auction regardless of where in the state they were physically located. Sometimes they brought them to Harrisburg, sometimes they did not (as in the case of their many, many, wrecked police cars.) The title to your vehicle had to pass thru that office.
I remember a few really cool fire engines from the state hospitals, mostly Willys Jeeps, with almost no miles on them. My WM300 was a brush fire truck and came from the Forestry Dept.
Hope you find it. Keep us posted.
