Anyone have any idea what this is? It has 4 nice 9x16 budd wheels. if it is cheap it may be worth buying it just for the tires and wheels!

James,
I sure don't know. It looks homemade. It looks like a frame with sides, suspension and wheels. No seats, floor, etc. The wheel well profile is very close to the tires. Not much clearance. I would think that if it were manufactured it would have a tag or a plate affixed to it. More pics? Anybody else have a guess??

Could it be a modified army mule?

Here is another pic. I did not see any data plates, it is original military from the look of it, I just don't know it's function!

What is it made out of? Is it aluminum or steel.
It looks familiar, but with all of the top missing, it escapes me. Any chance of seeing the other end and side?

Do you guys think it might be a M-20? It has the stance/look. there has to be some markings on the tails of the frame, don't you think? The M-20's Data Plates were in the compartment, but the compartment is gone!

What is an M20? There are air hookups on one end and a hand break on the other end. I can't remember much more, I was mainly interested in the wheels and tires for my PW which is still in the same area.

This is no M20 Armored Car.
M20s have 9.00-20 tires, and 6 of them to boot. This looks like one of the Armored Car prototypes (shapes) used for ballistic testing in the late 70s and early 80s. That might explain the hand brakes.
However, The shape is so familiar. . . and not that long ago, either. Darn, getting old is such a pain in. . . where was I?

This would be a great submission item to the MVPA magazine "Army Motors". They have a feature they run sometimes that asks the readership what certain vehicles are.
How about it James?

I am going out to take a couple of better photos of it this weekend, if the weather will cooperate! It looks like a trailer of some sort to me, it looks like there is a cutout at one end for a cylindrical gas tank, and a small walkway along one side on the top of the body, it also looks like one set of wheels turn to steer, but no tongue to tow it with? Warren is the Sig pistol factor still in Herndon?

Hopefully the weather will cooperate for you this weekend. It will be helpful to see more pics from better angles. Better sunlight exposures, etc. Do you need address information to make a submittal to Army Motors? Let me know.
I have lived near Herndon since 1970 and haven't heard of the Sig pistol factory. I'm not saying that it isn't here, only that I 'm unaware of it. Herndon is in Fairfax county which isn't known for its tolerance of firearms or their use. They are very strict on the discharge of firearms. I have heard that permission is required to discharge a gun on your own property providing you have a large amount of acreage. Not positive but pretty sure about that. On the other hand, the NRA HQ is here. I'm not a gun owner and have very limited experience with them. That's my 2 cents on guns. Didn't mean to get too wordy.

The next couple of post will have a few more pics. of the trailer, it has air brakes, and very thin steel sides, it also has four hold downs like you would see on a M37 or M35 hood. a foot or so from the front and back along the top of the body, there is also a narrow walk way along the top on one side. I think it is a generator trailer or something like that.

Have you checked out those wheels closely? A friend of mine has a rather large collection of things military on his land and I found some trailer wheels there that are the same lug pattern as the PW/M37 but do not use the lugnut to center and are made of magnesium. Will Liebscher mentioned these previously also, and that he had a plan to adapt them for M37 use. Anyway, just thought those might be more of these magnesium wheels.
