Simple question, does anybody know how much oil a rear sump pan hold ? Thank you . Oh & were do I tap in to run a mechanical oil pressure gauge ?

I'll have to check the sump capacity but seems to me I dumped in 10 quarts?

For the oil sender I just went to the braided line with the existing electric senders attached and installed a manifold, similar to a tee, allowing installation of 2 mechanical senders in place of electric senders, then used redundant mechanical pressure gauges. Mechanical water temp gauge sender can go up on the very front of head on passenger side near thermostat housing.

The capacity is 10.6 quarts. There is a 1/8" npt plug on top of the oil filter head, This port is for installing an electronic gauge sending unit or a line fitting for a mechanical type gauge.

Charles,
When you do your 4BT conversions on the M37, do you modify the oil pan to clear the differential? If so, how much? I have seen about 3 and 1/2 " taken off.
Thanks,
Dave L.

Our engines have tilt designed into the mounting system. We do a slight oil pan mod, but not specifically for diff clearance as the tilt pulls the pan away from the diff.

So, Charles, am I right that you use the GM application Cummins engines?
I have acquired a 4BT with the Ford application bellhousing adapter, etc, so it would sit upright. I believe I will need to mod the oil pan more to get it to fit.

Don't know if these parts will help you, Doc, but maybe...? It's all the GM offset/tilted parts.

Our design is all our own that we have created right here. It is in no way relative to the Cummins/GM design. Ours is specific to the M37 application designed to fit without modifications. We fabricate our own mounting system right here in house. The engines we use to repower M37's are new from Cummins & are specifically accessorized & put together for our application.

Jimmie,
I think I will stay with a Ford tranny here, and do what Cabell Garbee did with the Ford ZF which is plug and play with this engine, supposedly.
BTW, where are you moving too?
