The 'going price' depends on the condition and features of the truck. Rust and bodywork is a major consideration, and general mechanical condition is important: 2WD, 4WD, manual trans, automatic, factory winch, glass, upholstery and etc. all dictate the true value. Does it run and drive now? How many miles? All factory parts?

Mare Island was a premiere shipyard in those days and had a fat wallet. They took extra good care of their equipment, but that doesn't mean the following owners did the same. I have a buddy that worked as a machinist at Mare Island during that time, and I'll ask him if he remembers the truck.

Going price for a Town Panel is anywhere from $500 for a beater rust bucket to $10,000+ for a prime example. Extremely low miles, extra equipment and upgrades can drive the price even higher.
