Thank you, sir. I'll follow up with them. Looks like they are primarily drive train people, which is good because the mechanical stuff is beyond me. Don't mind body work, within reason, it keeps me out of bars during my retirement. Need a new project so I don't get too old, too fast.

"Rehabilitated" an M151 a couple of years ago and now need a new project.

Regards,
Dave Jester

GSA has two M-37s up for auction in Tennessee, one a 1953 that looks pretty rough (but maybe running), and a 1962 M-37B1 that looks very complete and unaltered, except for that lovely puke green paint that the US Forest Service paints their vehicles. The posting states that the '62 hasn't been driven in over a year, but that means that it WAS driven fairly recently; it's hard to tell from the picture, but it's possible that the '53 is still running. They also have a 1972 Crew Cab pickup for sale...

Hi Dave, and welcome!

If you have not already done so I strongly suggest that you consider a subscription to the Power Wagon Advertiser magazine. It has a wealth of information and always contains excellent articles, sometimes M37 specific. The whole back of the magazine is given over to private party advertisements of Dodge trucks and parts for sale, primarily military versions. Normally the prices there are far more realistic than E-Bay or other sites.

Gordon does a most excellent job with this magazine and I know you'll be very pleased with it. You can click on the link in upper right hand corner of this page for more info.....

Best wishes on your new project when you finally track it down!

I found one!

Thanks for all the help from everyone. I expect I'll be hanging around this site quite a bit now that I've "joined" the club.

Also, I will subscribe to the publication. I'll need all the help I can get!

Welcome and congratulations, and you did a beautiful job on the M151. Post a picture of your new baby when you get a chance, before pictures are always nice.

Michael

Gregg:

Thanks for the offer. Soon as I get it home I'll have a better idea of what I need.

By the way, my wife and I have admired your M37. She really likes your paint job! Love to see it someday.

Dave,
Tell your wife thanks for the compliment on my truck!! It's normally shunned by the military folks because it's not O.D.Green,but the general public seems to love it in my small town. When I saw your post that you were looking for an M-37 I thought about offering it for sale to you,but noticed you found one.Looks like you found a nice starter project!
If I can be any help to you on your new project feel free to give me a shout!

Gregg:

Man, am I glad you didn't!! I'd probably had to go talk to my friendly banker! :-)

I understand about it lacking OD paint. Afraid I'm not a purist, as can be seen by my M151. It is fairly military accurate, but I still get criticism from some that it is not painted in the appropriate period paint. I figure everybody gets to run their own railroad! And I am sufficiently concerned about preservation that it remains stock so that the next person just has to repaint.

Like my wife, I really like your paint. Seriously considering copying your idea. I'd like to talk with you off-site about your truck. Knowing very little about these trucks, I'd like to tap your experience.

Hey Dave,
I know what you mean by it's my railroad and I'll run it as I please! I work as a heavy equipment operator and get laid-off in winter, this is when I do most of my resto-work.Cash is always short at this time, had two gallon of Cat-Yellow paint in the shop(20.00 bucks a gallon)Added some hardener for some shine and that's the finished product!!I am very happy with the outcome, but before I shot it I was very nervous of what the yellow would look like. Used Base/clear on all black items $$$$$$$$ if you know what I mean. You can email me @ ( yumyumsumguy@yahoo.com)I know the address sounds strange but my wife gave me the name and she has a sense of humor.
