Hawk,
From what I understand from reading the recent discussion on TCs, ODs and trannies, I have a 727 in the '77 D100 that I will be parting-out when the snow stops. I will be using the 360 engine for my M37, but the last thing I would want in any of my vehicles is an automatic tranny. I don't know if I'll need the BH (I don't think so), but I'd like to keep it until I know for sure. Make me an offer.

without bh is fine. I can find those a dime a dozen around here, just not many good tranys.

Kind of wished the trany from the van would had worked. But keeping it auto as the other half can not drive sticks. She keeps blowing up transmissions. Don't know how, but not going to try to teacher her any more. Getting too costly, not to mention a part from the trany might bite her one of these days.

In my lack of reading (DOH) the auto's did not have a removable bellhousing. Only the manuals. Reading back threw this it caught my eye and was like what the heck.

On the short body trany for the 4x4's the bellhousing was not removable. So who ever lead you to think you could hmmmmm..........................

Anyhow let me know about this trany as soon I am either going to rip mine up or switch it to a manual. The other half will just have to blow the trany learing or not drive it (if I switch it to manual).

First, the auto is a 727 and about as strong of a tranny you can get...you will need a Small Block version to get the correct bellhousing...you will also need a short 2wd version to work with your divorced 205...I have owned three 74s...also, do not swap a 360 converter onto a 318 (or vice versa) or it will cause you to throw a rod through the block...they are balanced differently.

I have a 74 318 for sale...good running piece, but I'm in PA.

I also have a SB 727 with a NP203 (fulltime 4wd) case...

yea, I know about the converter issues with balance. This is one reason I am leary about getting one from a Junk Yard. As they can never tell you if it came from a 318 or a 360. One even tried to sell me one off a 225.

Just wished the short body one from the B200 would have worked. But from my reading it says it wont. And not willing to risk my motor to find out.

Its odd, a 78 B200 with 360 and a short body 727 trany, but from all the books and referances I have read up on says it wont work. Oh well back to the hunt or I might just rip mine appart and rebuild it.

Thats what happens when you buy used and abused items. They tend to hash out on you.
