Gentlemen: I'm looking for an efficient, economical method of transport for a complete '52 Dodge B series Powerpac. It will be crated, 56"x44"x24"(h), and weighs #800. Shipping Cubage approx. 32'cu.
I would like it to originate in LA or somewhere in South to Central Ca, and be delivered to Watford North Dakota, zip 58854. It could also be delivered to Minot ND, or any large city within a 150 mi radius of Watford. This is near the western edge of the central part of ND.
Or, could anyone up that way, inform me of shippers or freight companies which have terminals in either of these cities or nearby, or which frequent or cater to this area of the country. I am open to any suggestions/ideas.
My schedule is not critical. Phone # upon request. Thanx Will Liebscher; Oclip@hotmail.com

I am not positive but i think you can use yellow freight or roadway, i am not sure if they go to where u want but you can try them. For that weight thats to only people i can think of. i hope this helps a bit. BTW where are you located in SOCAL? I am on the high desert. I have only seen 1 M-37 in my town. So when i get my WDX goin it will be the only one in town.

4wheeler, Yes, I've looked into the trucking companies. They are expensive, as I see it, and they do not terminate as close to Watford as I would like. I figure that if I'm going to pay thru the nose, I might as well get the engine to the objective destination. I'm just fishing for a better way. In engineering, better is the evil of good!
I read you account of the acquisition of your vehicle, somewhere I remember that it was used by US Borax. Does that mean you're in Boron, or Edwards, or Kramer? Small world! I'm high in the desert too. My house is in Red Mountain , 3650 ASL! So is my pile of M37's. But right now, I'm living in LA while I get the Mfg Engineering done for my product. I believe I listed my location under the Author column at the left of the post. You might also be more exact in your location description! I was wondering where you were myself! What's your first name btw? Thanx Will Liebscher

Brian, You're sitting on the biggest pile of Army Truck parts in the area! You lucky guy! Yes, I'm sure I've talked to your Dad along the way. I usually take a quick tour of what's parked out front of BTP when I go by.
There are a few other M37's in your area, but you'll have to look pretty hard to find them. It will be much easier to network with those guys thru the Net, and thru the MVCC in Glendale on the second Sun ea month. They will probably be able to bring out the civie PW's in your area also. I hope to get by and see you next time I get to Barstow. God knows when that will be!

Yeah i know. I would like to meet others involved in PWs.If all you have seen is the trucks at their main yard thats not where they keep the military trucks, They have most of them at a yard off of highway 58. But i have already checked no M-37's. If they had one i would have it and it would be my next project. lol What is the MVCC? You might even know my Grandparents too, they have done work in the past for an engineer that lived at red mountain. Hank Dyer, owned Hank Dyer Electric. He has done work all over the highdesert for alot of people.

Brian, the MVCC is the Military Vehicle Collectors Club. Now known as the MVPA, except in So Cal, where it originated as the MVCC, now known as the So Cal MVCC or SCMVCC. Meets Next Sun, and every second Sunday at Glendale College, 8am-12, 2 Fry off Mountain, first driveway W, on N side. I'll be driving my M35 drill rig home to RM from there, after next Sun Meeting. An escort part of the way home, esp up the Hill, would be appreciated. The vehicle seems OK, but sat for a while, you never know. I've always been pretty lucky! We have a MV swap meet and meeting. You would be welcome there. Thanx Will Liebscher

Can you believe it!?!
I live 24 Mi N of Hwy 58 on US 395! When I get done here in LA, I hope you will drop in and see me too! On your way across 395!
Mopar Norm of Montclair, do you know Mopar Mike of Lakewood, Ca? Quite a guy! World Famous. He told me that he installed a 392 Hemi in an M37 in 1962!! That is the earliest repower of an M37 I have ever heard of.
I go thru Montclair, every time I go home to Red Mountain. It is my first regular stop on the trip home. I usually go up 60, but when I go across on 10, I stop at Ballys and sit in the Jacuzzi during traffic. When I return to LA, I stop and sit in the jacuzzi, because there is none in RM. I'll get by and see you and your Dodge collection, one of these days!
Mopar Mike and I are going to get together and see if some obscure side-of-the-block captive engine mounts, that Mike knows of by Dodge, can be used with my Chevy mounting brackets, or a slight mod to them. Way better than the 318 mounts now available. Orders of magnitude better. The Dodge in Dodge community probably isn't ready for this advancement! Even Dodge is too stupid to use captive mounts on the side of the block, like Chevy. (The currently available conversion stretches the side mount of the 318, to the arcane yoke mount/ rubber donut BS, of the original M37, which even exacerberates the problem/s). Yes, you heard it first! Right here on Gordon's Forum!!

That'd be fun,...except my "collection" is boxed up in Walnut, awaiting escrow to close on my future shop location. My truck is now called the "Parts Pile" and is the source of considerable glee by my regular forum readers! ha!ha!

Hey thanks for the info! I will probably not be able to make one of them for a while though. Yeah we will have to have lunch some time. But at a real fastfood place like at the lenwood del taco or something. Have fun at the meeting!
