I've been communicating with an engineer for Chrysler Corporation over the last month and got confirmation yesterday that Chrysler has agreed to let him drive a black Series 2 Pre-Production 2010 Power Wagon down to the rally.
What a series 2 evidently means is that the they are still working on some fine tuning on the truck before it comes to the rally. This new model Power Wagon has only been shown once at the last Chicago Truck Show held a few months ago.
From what I gather this truck has a lot of new engineering features that are high tech and will be very interesting to see. It's his feeling that this showing would bring some needed attention to a truck which has some incredible off-road capabilities. Many truck enthusiasts don't even know the truck exists.
He thought that those who appreciate the old Power Wagons and attending the rally might like a private sneak preview of what Chrysler has on the drawing board for 2010. He's a huge fan of the older PWs himself.
With all the news about Chrysler these days I think it's indeed remarkable that they are even sending a vehicle and chose our rally as a place to preview this new truck.(It wasn't our idea.)
Gordon, I think you should be the guy who gets an interview with him and does an article on the truck. With the uncertain future of Chrysler, who knows if this truck will ever go into production...
